Travertine, a natural stone, is a white concretionary form of calcium carbonate that is usually hard and semicrystalline. It is a banded, compact variety of limestone formed along streams, particularly where there are waterfalls and around hot or cold springs.
Limestone is deposited from the water of mineral springs (especially hot springs ) or streams holding lime in solution.
Travertine stone is characterised by naturally occurring pitted holes and troughs in its surface. These can be filled in using grout or left open for character. We can recommend the finish that will work for you in your particular application.
Travertine can be polished to a good degree of smoothness and shininess. Many colours are available from light cream to a coral red.
Travertine can be supplied in aged, chipped, honed, brushed and tumbled and is ideal for use as a floor or wall covering.
